grants to educational establishments
Educational establishments with a hospitality department can apply to the Trust for funding for a particular project. The Trust aims to enhance the quality of training and education provided by hospitality departments. The Trustees do not normally award grants for rebuilding projects per se. They are more interested in innovative projects that will benefit a large number of present and future students.
The Trust's activities with educational establishments have recently included:-
- Birmingham College of Food Tourism and Creative Studies to provide
scholarships to deserving hospitality
students.
- The Blackpool & The Fylde College for a wide range of projects
within the hospitality department.
- New College Nottingham to enable them to
equip their skills training kitchens with up to date industry specific
equipment.
- RSA Focus on Food 'Cooking Bus' with funding for
the Teacher Fellowship initiative.
- Thomas More Catholic School with the
refurbishment of their Food Technology room which will assist with the
introduction of the 6th form BTEC Hospitality and Catering course.
- Training for Life for 'the Hoxton
Apprentice'.
- University of Portsmouth for the 'Making Sense of Economics' series of
interactive DVD films for students of hospitality.
- University of Strathclyde for the Sir Hugh Wontner Lectureship
- University of Surrey with staff development and student bursaries
- Westminster Kingsway College for the VSQ - Professional Development Centre
and to support their hospitality students with a particular emphasis on their
